Sophie Aldred (2024 & 2025)
Sophie joined us at our very first Spalding Comicon 2024 and then came back in 2025. To say Sophie is popular with our amazing attendees is an understatement.
Sophie Aldred is best known for playing Ace, the sharp-witted and rebellious companion to the Seventh Doctor, portrayed by Sylvester McCoy, from 1987 to 1989. She later reprised the role in the 1993 charity special Dimension in Time and has continued to portray Ace in numerous Big Finish audio dramas. More recently, she appeared in the Doctor Who 50th-anniversary comedy special The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot.
Beyond Doctor Who, Sophie has contributed her voice to a wide variety of television projects, including Bob the Builder, Sergeant Stripes, Dennis & Gnasher, Dennis the Menace, Tree Fu Tom, and many others.
She also co-wrote the hardcover reference book Ace: The Inside Story of the End of an Era with Mike Tucker, published by Virgin Publishing in 1996.
